A few of my favorite heroes and villains
Where to begin? Well, I have never followed any single comic
book or series for very long, though I have fallen in love with various
titles and characters over the years. First was Superman, and with him
the rest of the classic DC crowd.
My favorite DC characters are probably Batman, Superman, J'onn J'onzz, and Wonder Woman.
I also rather love Young Justice in
general and Impulse (Bart Allen) -- yes, Impulse and not Flash or Kid Flash, thank you --
in particular. Superboy and Robin are a close second, but the spazzing speedster himself
is just too cool not to love. I know Young Justice is gone now, thanks to
Geoff Johns and his ilk, but I don't read DC anymore. There's too much
over-the-top violence and death; they really aren't the comics I remember loving.
So, I read my old issues and I role-play my own spin things on
superhero MUXes. Since what I loved isn't what I loved anymore, I might as well make up
some pretendy-fun-time stories about it and have fun, right? Damn right!
I've always liked Spider-Man and the classic X-Men, Avengers, and other Marvel types.
Marvel lost me in the 90's, though, with all their next-generation X-crap.
I don't like them quite as well as the DC characters, overall, but Marvel definitely
has some good things going for it. Their focus on the humanity and more "real life"
characters is refreshing. While I don't read Marvel anymore either, there are still some
good titles out there, I'm told.
Best hero: Batman. The guy does it all without any powers.
Best villains: Lex Luthor, The Joker, Magneto, Dr. Victor von Doom, and Darkseid.
